Boosts
Pay other publications for each verified subscriber they send you, or earn by recommending theirs.
How Boosts work
A Boost is a paid recommendation. One publication offers a price for each new subscriber, and other publications recommend it to their readers. When a reader they send sticks around, the promoter earns money and the buyer pays for a subscriber who actually reads.
For example, Daily AI News offers $3 per subscriber with a $600 budget. Startup Weekly applies, Daily AI News approves, and Startup Weekly's recommendations now show Daily AI News first. Startup Weekly earns $2.40 for every verified subscriber it sends, and Inkwave keeps $0.60 (20%).
Buying subscribers
- Go to Boosts and open Your offer.
- Set the price per subscriber ($1 to $10), the total budget (at least $50) and a short pitch that promoters see in the marketplace.
- Click Create offer.
- Approve or reject publications as they apply. Approved partners recommend you on their signup flow and their website's recommendations section.
You can pause, resume or end the offer, and pause or end a partner, at any time. When the budget is used up, the offer stops showing until you raise it.
Creating an offer needs a plan that includes Boosts and a card saved in Settings → Billing & Plan.
Earning by promoting
- Go to Boosts and open Marketplace.
- Browse open offers. Each shows what you earn per subscriber and how much budget is left.
- Click Apply. Once the publication approves, it's recommended first on your signup flow and your website.
The Earnings tab shows each partnership with its pending and confirmed earnings. Anyone can earn, on any plan.
Which subscribers count
A reader counts only if they're new to the publication they subscribed to, and only once, whichever publication sent them. Each one is held for 14 days, then:
- Confirmed if they're still subscribed and opened at least one of the buyer's emails. If the buyer sent nothing during those 14 days, staying subscribed is enough.
- Rejected if they unsubscribed, bounced, never confirmed their address, or never opened anything that was sent.
Only confirmed subscribers are paid for. Pending ones count against the budget while they wait, so a busy day can't overspend it.
Paying and getting paid
As a buyer, confirmed subscribers are charged to the card saved for your Inkwave plan. Charges are grouped: once a week, everything confirmed since the last charge is billed together, as soon as it adds up to at least $10. When an offer ends, whatever is left is billed even if it's less. Your offer shows the card, what's unbilled, and every charge with its receipt. Pay now settles what's owed straight away.
If a charge fails, your offer pauses and you're notified. Update your card in Settings → Billing & Plan if needed, then click Retry payment on Your offer; once a payment goes through, the offer resumes. If your bank asks you to confirm the payment, Retry lets you confirm it. After three failed weekly charges in a row, the offer ends.
As a promoter, you're paid by Stripe transfer to your payout account (Settings → Payment Accounts) once the buyer's payment for your subscribers has gone through. The Earnings tab shows what's been paid out, what's waiting for the buyer to be charged, and what's waiting for your payout account. If you haven't set up a payout account yet, your earnings are kept and paid as soon as it's ready.
